Exile is a mud designed and built by serious MUD players for serious MUD play. Though Exile is Circle-based, the code and world have been completely reworked by our dedicated team of Implementors, coders, and builders. Exile spent over a year in development before officially opening, and has been running strong for over two years. With 61 completely original zones, Exile will challenge experienced MUD players while offering an exciting and friendly atmosphere for new players to get acquainted with MUDs.
Here are some of the features you will find at Exile:
GUILDS
Exile has a unique guild system, where guild membership is central to the early states of
gameplay. Each player who enters Exile is a Citizen, and must given time to learn as much
as they want about the various classes available. Players have the opportunity to join up
to four different guilds in their lifetimes, with each stint in a guild lasting for 41
levels. Changing guilds periodically allows for a diverse range of skills and spells,
whereas staying in one guild for life allows greater power in a smaller range of
abilities.
Experienced MUD players will feel at home with the basic four guilds - Mage, Thief,
Cleric, Warrior, while those looking for something new and different will look forward to their final guild chosen from the specialties - Nightblade, Illusionist, Ranger, and Monk.
CLANS/TRIBES
Everyone can use a little help when it comes to facing danger, so Exile players can join
together in clans and tribes. Both clans and tribes have their own communication channels,
and each receive special benefits to make adventuring more interesting and fun. Clanwars
and Tribewars are already beginning, and the competitive nature of clans will challenge
even the most skilled players.
FORMATIONS
In the interest of more realistic combat, Exile has fully reformable formations for
combat. You can place the tough warriors in front and the wily rangers in the back to
cover your tracks, while the spellcasters are protected in the middle. Special group
spells are available to members of formations, and formations can help you gain more
experience from fighting than you would gain while solo.
EQUIPMENT
Exile has thousands of objects available throughout the game. Players may equip themselves with a vast selection of armor, weapons, and magical items. With such a range of possibilities, players can create their own unique strengths in combat.
Relics load randomly throughout the world constantly, and if you are lucky enough to find one you can take it to the Curator of the local museum where it will be identified for you. You can choose to use the relic, which will likely be a powerful piece of equipment, or you may exchange the relic for tokens that your guildmaster will redeem for attribute increases.
The stats on equipment are variable with each piece that loads. These tweaked stats can create powerful variations of standard equipment, or it can devalue a normally powerful piece. You will want to adventure back to the same areas many times, hunting for that extra attribute on that special gear.
WEATHER
Exile has a fully interactive weather system, with real-time storm fronts and high- and
low-pressure zones that move against each other brewing realistic weather patterns. Watch
out though, the higher level mage classes can alter the natural course of events to their
own advantage!
PLAYER AMENITIES
Exile was designed with the player in mind, and our player amenities reflect that. Once a
player joins a guild, there is no daily rent, and the player receives a free locker in
which to store equipment. Our ANSI color is fully configurable, and there are small
graphical enhancements to the player interface for players who like to see more than just
text. Our gods are friendly, helpful, and competent players who can help you with problems
or just point you in the right direction if you are new to the game.
