| Movement |
Moving around on Exile (or any mud for that matter), is relatively simple. On Exile, there are 6 basic
movement commands: North South East West Up Down Any given room can have exits in any of those directions. When you 'look' (type 'l' or 'look' to look at the room), you will see all visible exits under where it says 'Obvious Exits:'. If there are no exits, it will say 'none'. This carry's over to when someone gives you directions (example: n, e, w, s), they are telling you which directions to move in, in what order you need to. In the example, you would have gone north, east, west, and then south. Also known as, nowhere. heh Another thing to remember is that Exits can be hidden also, and in order to find them, you must 'search' (type 'search'), until you find them (if there are any hidden in the room). |
| Food and Water |
Eating and Drinking are neccessary to survival on Exile, as they are in real life.. for the most part.
The command to eat something is 'eat' and to drink is 'drink'. This may seem simple, but the trick is
that you don't drink potions, you 'quaff' a potion, and you can only eat things that are actual food. So no gnawing on heads! |
| Score and Statistics |
I will try not to go too far in depth because there is a lot to cover here. If you type 'score' a
listing of all of your statistics (hit points, mana, armor class, hitroll, strength, intelligence.. etc.)
are brought up for you to view. This is very important, as much of what makes your character tough
or weak is right there in your score. There are far too many statistics to name and explain them all here,
so what i will say is that if you use the help files, you can find out about all of them. (example: help strength) |
| Getting Help |
As a citizen, you won't be able to use all of the channels, so the best ways to get help are to either
use the help files (type 'help < topic> ') or ask someone specific a question. If they are in the same
room, just use the 'say' command (type 'say < your question> '), if the person you want to ask is not
in the same room as you, you can use 'tells' (type 'tell < question> < person> '). Normally most
people on the mud are more than willing to help new players out, just so long as you don't spam them (ask them
the same question 10 times and stuff like that). |
