| Melee (skill) Commands |
Each of your skills (if you have any yet) has a command which you type in to use that skill. Most of the
commands for skills are just the name of the skill (Example: Kick, bash, charge, trip), but
a few of them are abbreviated, the abbreviated skills are: Throat Punch: use 'tp' Backstab: use 'bs' Also note that dirt kick is used as one word 'dirtkick'. For more information on each skill and what it does, use the help files. |
| Spell Commands |
Spells on the other hand, you must cast in order to use. To cast any spell, type 'cast < spell name> < target> '
or you can just use 'c' instead of 'cast'. Most spells you only need to use the first word of the spell
name in order to cast it (Example: c mag = c magic missile, c word = c word of recall), but any spell which has
the same first word as another spell, you must define further when casting (Example: Dispel is used by: dispel magic,
dispel good, and dispel evil. So when casting them, you must type 'c dispel mag/evil/good', the same is true of 'cure'
spells, and 'protection' spells). When you are in battle, you do not need to use a 'target' for your spells if you
don't want to. Your spell will automatically be cast at your current target (the opponent you are fighting). So if you
are in battle with a kobold, you could type simply 'c mag' to cast a magic missile at it. The exception to the above is when casting healing or restoration type spells (cure light, cure blind), if you do not use a target on those spells, the mud will assume you are casting them on yourself. So you always need a target on those types of spells if you want to cast them on someone else. |
| Mud Mail |
Mud Mail is an extremely useful tool for leaving people messages, or sending them items. The post office is located
at (from recall): e, s, s, s, e. From this point you can do two things: 1) Receive mail: Type 'receive' to receive all mail and/or items which have been sent to you. You will know whe you have mail because a tag which looks like: [MAIL] will show up next to your prompt (to the left of your hp, mana, moves, etc.). 2) Send Items: To send an item, have it in your inventory (and if it is a container, it must be empty), and you must have an amount of gold on you, that is equal to the value of that item, that is the cost of sending it. The command to send it is: 'mail < item name> < person> '. After typing that, the item will automatically be sent, and the postmaster will automatically take the gold neccessary. If you don't have enough gold, he will tell you, and the item will not be sent. If you go one north from this point, you enter the room where you can write messages. To do this, make sure you have 5 gold on you, and type 'mail < person>'. You will then enter a 'buffer' which is where you type in your message. Within the buffer, you have a list of commands available which help to format and clean up your messages. Type '@h' for a list of commands available, when you are in the buffer. After you have finished typing your message, type '@s'. This will send your message to the person and make you exit the buffer. |
| Bugs and Ideas |
Exile is, of course, a program. Being so, it does occasionally (but not often, thankfully) get bugs, or little glitches
in the programming. If you think you have witnessed a bug, report it immediately by typing 'bug < the bug> ', where
'the bug' is your description of the problem, when and where it occured, and any information that might be helpful in
determining how/why the problem occured. If the bug needs immediate attention, you can also send a 'tell' to one of the
gods who are online, and let them know the problem (but don't spam them, if they don't respond they may be busy or
working on the bug already.). On Exile, the gods, as well as the players, welcome ideas. Many of the cool things Exile has to offer have come from the ideas of its players. If you have an idea you think should be implemented, type 'idea < the idea> ', where 'the idea' is your explanation of what the idea is, does, and anything else that is important to your idea. It is a good idea though, to ask an experienced player, or a god, before you submit an idea, to see whether or not it is already implemented in some way, that way you can save yourself the trouble if it has already been done. |
