Lesson Five
Gaining Experience Characters gain experience by killing mobs (mobiles - the monsters and such.). The amount of experience you get is dependant on a couple of factors.
1) The higher your level, the more experience you are able to gain from killing mobs. At level one, the most you can get is 96 experience for a single kill. But once you get into the 30's, you can get up past 3 million experience per kill.
2) Your Prime Requisite. Your prime requisite (the stat that is most important to your class) determines the amount of experience you get with each kill. For instance, if a level 1 thief has 14 dex, he might only get 68 xp for killing a janitor, but if he has 25 dex, he will get 96 xp.
3) The mob itself. The tougher and/or higher level the mob is, the more experience you get for killing it, up to your maximum amount set by your level.
4) You receive a bonus to your gained experience when you are xp'ing in NPK and CPK zones. This is due to the inherent danger in being in a pk zone.
This sounds complex to some extent, but basically, if you try and keep your prime requisite at 25, and just kill mobs that are kind of tough, you will usually gain experience very quickly.

Forms Form in Exile are very advanced, and actually have structure to them. In order to form with someone, you must 'follow' them. Type 'follow < person> ' to do so. Once in a form, you have a variety of commands at your disposal, which allow you to help and keep track of your form more adequately. The commands are:
Form Talk (type 'ft < message> '): this is a channel specifically for the form that you are in. Only people in your form can see this.
Form (type 'form'): This command gives you a layout of where everyone in the form is located within the form. There are nine slots available in any form, and the people in the form can be moved around in order to keep the tougher people up front, etc.
Reform (type 'reform < person or position> < new position> '): Reforming moves a person from slot a, to slot b, within a form, and if there is someone in slot b, the two people switch.
Formtest (type 'formt'): Formtesting shows you how much of the damage, on average, each person in each slot is going to take as compared to the rest of the form, set up in percentages.
Form report (type 'fr'): Formreport shows you the name, class, race, hp, mana, moves, ac, and energy of everyone in your form, in list format. This is extremely useful to healers and form leaders, to track who needs help most, etc.
Unform (type 'unform' or 'unform < person> if you are leading'): Unform allows you to unform yourself from a form, or, if you are leader, to disband the formation, or kick anyone out of the formation.
It is not only suggested, but a proven, that getting in a form to xp is the best way to go. XP'ing in a form provides greater protection, knowledge, and sheer speed.
On a side note, if someone 'yawns at you', they are most likely wanting you to follow them. So if someone repeatedly yawns at you, they are probably not meaning to spam, but are simply wanting you to form.

Searching and Finding Finding Items: In your journeys, you will find all kinds of things in all kinds of places, and on all kinds of monsters. The trick is, sometimes the items are hidden. When you kill any mob, you should always 'search' the corpse, because there is a chance that it may have hidden items on it. To do this, type 'search corpse'. If anything is hidden, it will be revealed to you. Note, you only have to search any given corpse one time. Also, to see everything that is on a corpse, or in any containe for that matter, use the 'examine' or 'look' commands. If you type 'examine corpse' it will show you everything the corpse has contained within or on it.

Looting and Stealing This part is technically more for experienced players, but I felt it should be covered anyway, at least briefly. When in CPK (Chaotic Player Kill) zones, a player may have things stolen from his inventory, and may be 'looted' if he dies. This is where it is imperative to either trust the people you are with, or know that you won't get killed. To steal something from a persons inventory, you must have the steal skill (thief). To loot however, if you kill a person, or if they die, in cpk, you type 'steal < item> < person>' after they are dead. This is the exact same as stealing from their inventory, except anyone can do it. Note however, cpk'ing, looting, and stealing can, and often are, met with dire circumstances from the hands of the friends of victims.
